Given the ongoing discussions on environmental protection, climate change and the saving of energy, Franz Brinkmann GmbH is probably one of the few companies that actively put environmentally-friendly measures into practice.
BRISTA has always seen itself as being a modern and environmentally-conscious company, which invests in the "future for man and the environment".
BRISTA uses photovoltaic technology for electricity production. A 340 kWp photovoltaic system was independently installed on some 10,000 m² of hall space. 2,000 modules from the companies Sharp and Shell jointly equate to a size of 2,300 m² and generate a total of approximately 300,000 kwhr of electricity each year. This is around 60 times as much as a private household consumes.
Another innovative energy-efficient component is a storm water retention basin (about 100,000 l), which is used for preparing and replenishing the chemical baths for the galvanizing and powder coating processes.
A biogas-district heating contract concluded in 2007 complements the ongoing efforts of Franz Brinkmann GmbH to use environmentally-friendly energy sources and to continue its responsibility to both man and the environment. With the installation of a new heating system all chemical baths of the hot dip galvanizing and powder coating plant as well as all halls and office areas are heated in this manner.
