A New Home for the White Stork: Hot-Dip Galvanised Stork Nesting Mast Installed in Wickede (Ruhr)
The new nesting platform combines sustainable corrosion protection with active nature conservation.
A new nesting platform for white storks has recently been installed in the Ruhr meadows of Wickede (Ruhr). The project was realised in cooperation with the Municipality of Wickede (Ruhr), the local municipal works department and the Voßwinkel Game Management Association, with the aim of providing these protected birds with a safe breeding site in our region.
At BRISTA, we are delighted to have contributed to this special nature conservation and species protection project. The newly installed stork nesting pole was hot-dip galvanised by us, providing long-term protection against corrosion.
Long-Lasting Corrosion Protection for Demanding Outdoor Environments
Stork nesting poles are exposed to wind, rain, frost and sunlight throughout the year. To ensure that the structure can be used safely for many decades, reliable corrosion protection is essential.
Hot-dip galvanising offers a particularly sustainable solution. The metallurgical bond between steel and zinc creates a highly durable protective layer that safeguards the steel against corrosion over the long term while significantly reducing maintenance requirements.
Operators and owners particularly benefit from the long service life of hot-dip galvanised components, especially in outdoor applications.
Technology Meets Nature Conservation
The new nesting platform is an excellent example of how technical solutions and nature conservation can work hand in hand. A safe and durable stork nesting pole provides the foundation for white storks to find suitable breeding sites and establish themselves in the region for the long term.
As a company based in Ense, we are especially pleased when our expertise is not only valued in industry, infrastructure and construction projects, but also helps support initiatives that benefit local wildlife.
Together for the Region
Projects such as this are only possible thanks to the commitment of many dedicated partners. We would like to thank everyone involved for their efforts to protect the local natural environment and for making the installation of the new nesting platform possible. We wish the future residents of the new stork nest a successful breeding season and look forward to following the project's continued development.
